Imagine setting out with your children in search of the real Father Christmas in the snow-filled realms of Lapland!

It is an experience that will live in their memories forever. The setting is a winter wonderland, on the edge of Europe's last great wilderness. It's magical, of course ... why else would Santa make his home here? You start out on snowmobiles, then in the quiet forest, you transfer to a reindeer sleigh. Then suddenly, you glimpse a golden glow from a lonely log cabin! Is this Santa's secret hideaway? Will you dare knock and enter?

Your search for Santa is the highlight of your two-night break with Transun. But there is so much more included. From a Husky Experience to a Snowmobile Adventure, from sledging to a Festive Dinner, your short break is filled with memorable experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.

Day One

Reindeer Harnesses

After you land in Enontekio in Finland you will be guided to your coach. The journey (15 minutes to our hotels in Hetta or one hour to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando) takes you through the heart of the Sami lands. Watch out for reindeer in the woods! Your all-in-one thermal suits and boots collection will be organised by your representative. After checking in at your hotel, your rep hosts a welcome meeting and during dinner, your Transun rep will answer questions.

Day Two

Kota in the snow

After breakfast, you will be joining your first included Santa Safari - the 40-minute snowmobile adventure. A supervised kids' snowmobile ride will be available (see FAQs for details) or, if you're lucky, a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer.

Then the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off In Search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift.

Before dinner, join a walk to the local church. After a welcome by the local vicar and carols, you return to your hotel for a Festive Dinner. Afterwards, why not join us on an optional Northern Lights Husky Safari?

Day Three

Check out after breakfast at 0900hrs, before joining your 40-minute Husky Experience. Then, there's time for snow activities, with toboggans available. And there's plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying snowball fights! Or you could try an optional excursion, perhaps Reindeer Herding. After lunch at the hotel, you set off by coach to Enontekio and your flight home.

Please note: For operational reasons, itineraries may vary.

Davvi Lodge Hotel & Cabins

Davvi Arctic Lodge Hotel
Davvi Arctic Lodge

THE DAVVI ARCTIC LODGE is set on the edge of the wilderness, on a quiet secluded hillside in the village of Karesuando. Here, you will experience the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful region, unsullied by mass tourism or commercialisation, coupled with a local hospitality that is always eager to extend a warm welcome to visitors.

The centrepiece of the hotel is its beautiful restaurant, which provides spectacular panoramic views across the snow-covered hillside towards the Swedish part of Karesuando, just across the nearby border. Many guests enjoy exploring the surroundings in their free time.

The design of the restaurant is inspired by the Sami kota, the reindeerhide tent that has for centuries been the traditional home to the nomadic people of the region. The restaurant is roughly semi circular in shape, with ceiling beams each joining a centre point, as do the supporting poles of a kota. Nearby is the lounge area, again part of a circular structure, with a centre skylight that represents the ventilation hole at the top of a Sami kota. The lounge is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs and occasional tables, and is equipped with a large flat-screen television.

The Davvi Arctic Lodge has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is well run by a conscientious staff, who are dedicated to ensuring that you enjoy your stay at their hotel to the fullest extent.
