Spending Christmas in Lapland, deep inside the Arctic Circle, will provide all your family with special memories they will treasure for ever. What better present could you give them? Your Christmas in Lapland will be filled with activities to keep your children enthralled throughout this very special time of year, not least setting out in search of the grand old man himself.

Waking up in Lapland on Christmas Day is only part of your short break . There is so much more included. From a Husky Experience to a Search for Santa, from a memorable Christmas Dinner to a Snowmobile Adventure, your four-night break is filled with magical experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.

Day one

Your flight departs around 10am, and at Enontekio, you are guided to your coach. The journey to Hetta takes between 10 and 15 minutes, and to Karesuando between 40 and 60 minutes (watch out for Santa's reindeer in the woods!). Your all-in-one thermal suits and boots will be organised by your representative. After checking in at your chosen accommodation, your rep hosts a welcome meeting and will answer any further questions during dinner. Tonight, you can join one of our optional activities, such as a snowmobile night safari, hoping to encounter the Northern Lights. See Optional Extras for full details.

Day two

sledge run

After breakfast, you head out on your first safari - a thrilling 40-minute Husky Experience. Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities, with toboggans available free. Or there's plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying a good old fashioned snowball fight!

Alternatively, you might opt to join the inside craft activities, or maybe try one of our exciting optional excursions, such as trying your hand at Reindeer Herding

Day three

After breakfast, you will be joining your second included Safari - the 40-minute Snowmobile Adventure.  A supervised kids' snowmobile ride will be available (see Optional Extras for details) or, if you're lucky, a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer.

Then, the highlight of the day is when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off In Search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa about his annual journey around the world. Each child receives a small gift. After dinner, relax, or join one of our optional night safaris.

Day four

This evening, enjoy a walk to the local church where you will be welcomed by the vicar and sing-along to some favourite carols. After dinner, relax, or join one of our optional night safaris.

Davvi Lodge Hotel & Cabins

Davvi Arctic Lodge Hotel
Davvi Arctic Lodge

THE DAVVI ARCTIC LODGE is set on the edge of the wilderness, on a quiet secluded hillside in the village of Karesuando. Here, you will experience the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful region, unsullied by mass tourism or commercialisation, coupled with a local hospitality that is always eager to extend a warm welcome to visitors.

The centrepiece of the hotel is its beautiful restaurant, which provides spectacular panoramic views across the snow-covered hillside towards the Swedish part of Karesuando, just across the nearby border. Many guests enjoy exploring the surroundings in their free time.

The design of the restaurant is inspired by the Sami kota, the reindeer hide tent that has for centuries been the traditional home to the nomadic people of the region. The restaurant is roughly semi circular in shape, with ceiling beams each joining a centre point, as do the supporting poles of a kota. Nearby is the lounge area, again part of a circular structure, with a centre skylight that represents the ventilation hole at the top of a Sami kota. The lounge is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs and occasional tables, and is equipped with a large flat-screen television.

The Davvi Arctic Lodge has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is well run by a conscientious staff, who are dedicated to ensuring that you enjoy your stay at their hotel to the fullest extent.
